There have been some rough reveals in Love Is Blind history, but Brittany Wicker and Devonta Anderson’s reveal in season 10 might take the cake. Upon seeing each other for the first time, both were surprised to find that the other was not quite their physical type, with Devo being “shorter” than Brittany usually went for, and Brittany being...not white.
As Devo explained to the camera after the reveal, “I fell in love with Brittany. It just so happened that she is a woman of color. That’s something I’ve never actually dated, let alone proposed to, get engaged to, so...” Welp!
During an exclusive interview with Cosmo, we asked Brittany whether she really, truly felt like Devo was her person in the pods, or if she merely accepted his proposal because he felt like the best option. (She did buy a wedding dress prior to appearing on the show, after all.) According to her, no, she doesn’t feel like she just settled for Devonta.
“I was very, very hopeful,” she said, “and I was going into [Love Is Blind] prepared with a dress that I knew fit me... It was not, ‘I have a dress, so I have to get married.’ It was, ‘I’m not going to force something to happen, and if it does happen, great, I’m prepared.’”
Brittany did admit that the attraction wasn’t immediate with Devo. As she explained, “I wasn’t unattracted to him, but he wasn’t somebody that catches my eye initially. But I feel like the more I was around him, the more it made me remember all of the reasons that I fell in love with him, [and] my attraction just continued to grow for him, day after day.”
In Cabo, Brittany even considered having sex with Devo in order to break down his walls, despite her being in a “season of celibacy.” As she explained it to Cosmo, “Throughout the process, as I felt him kind of pulling away from me, I’m like, ‘Okay, well, can I do this in order for him to feel connected to me?’ ...It was definitely very emotional.”
And if you’re wondering why Brittany got that wedding dress—even while knowing that she might not find her perfect match in the pods—she said it was all about “manifesting.”
Per Brittany: “For me, that was more preparation and manifesting, like, ‘I could really get married’...but if it doesn’t happen, it’s not like I’m not going to get married one day and wear that dress.”
Fair enough!! Will she end up wearing said dress in the LIB season 10 finale? You’ll have to keep watching to find out...
